The Aviva Foundation
The Aviva Foundation is a charitable foundation, proudly funded by Aviva. We operate as a Donor Advised Fund, administered by Charities Trust (charity registration number 327489).
We aim to support people across the UK by funding practical solutions to today’s challenges and investing in long-term change. We champion innovation, inclusion, and impact – supporting ideas and actions that challenge the status quo and help build a fairer, more resilient, future for all.
Our history
The Aviva Foundation builds on Aviva’s long-standing commitment to social impact. Since our launch, we've focused on tackling financial exclusion, building resilient communities, and supporting climate action – all aligned with Aviva’s Sustainability Ambition.
In 2026, we expanded our reach by integrating with the long-running Aviva Community Fund (now the Communities Fund). This brought together our support for charities and community-led initiatives under one umbrella – strengthening our ability to be a strategic partner for long-term change.
How we make decisions
- Our funding decisions are guided by our values: equity, transparency, and impact.
- We consult with sector experts, community voices, and draw on insight from Aviva to help shape our approach.
- We’re committed to being open and accountable – and we aim to continuously learn from the organisations we fund to improve how we work.
How we are funded
The Aviva Foundation is funded through unclaimed assets from Aviva’s shareholder base, alongside other contributions from the business. These funds are repurposed to support charitable initiatives that align with our mission and values.
Our relationship with Aviva
We work hand-in-hand with Aviva to deliver meaningful social impact that aligns with the company’s purpose, values and sustainability ambition.
While we make our funding decisions independently, we collaborate closely to unlock the skills and expertise of Aviva colleagues through volunteering. From mentoring and financial coaching, to strategic support and hands on climate action, our volunteering programmes help strengthen communities - offering colleagues rewarding ways to grow and give back.
